TARS: The Tieplayer Rating That Powers the Racket-Sports Community

Imagine that every match you play, every hard-fought point, and every passionate “let’s go!” shouted from the back of the court leaves a digital mark. A true reflection of your level, your evolution, and your competitiveness.

That mark exists.
It’s called TARS — and it’s much more than just a number. It’s the official Tieplayer rating and the engine that connects more than 300 clubs to 400,000 players across padel, tennis, pickleball, and squash.

More than a metric, TARS is the heartbeat of a digital ecosystem where players evolve, find partners, and compete on an equal footing — all based on real, measurable data.

But what exactly is TARS — the Tieplayer rating?

TARS is the rating system integrated into the Tieplayer app that evaluates your playing level based on the results you record. It’s calculated automatically every time a match is validated — and it’s also sport-specific.
Meaning: if you play two or three sports, you’ll have independent ratings for each one.

Every sport operates differently. A 16.0 in tennis may not correspond to a 16.0 in padel, and vice versa.
By separating ratings, Tieplayer ensures higher precision, fairness, and relevance.

How is TARS calculated?

You start with a base rating. With every validated match, TARS adjusts according to:

  • The result (win or loss)

  • The rating differences between players

  • Previous match history

  • Whether you used a boost (more on this soon)

The more you play, the more accurate your TARS becomes.
It’s essentially your digital sporting résumé, evolving with you.

Why is TARS so important?

Without TARS, matches would be random.
With TARS, you have a system that organizes, balances, and elevates the experience for players, clubs, and coaches.

It acts as the link between players of similar levels, helps clubs run fair tournaments, and allows every player to track their progress objectively.
TARS gives intelligence to the ecosystem — without it, Tieplayer would be just another match-booking app.

TARS in Action: 4 Features Where It Takes the Lead in a Player’s Day-to-Day

1. Matchmaker: Find opponents at your level

With Matchmaker, you can search for opponent pairs whose Tieplayer rating is similar to yours in the sport of your choice.
It’s sports matchmaking driven by real data — no random draws, no imbalances, no surprises.

2. Open Games with TARS filtering

You can create an Open Game for Wednesday at 7 p.m. and define exactly who can join.
With the rating filter, only players within the level you set — and within the same sport — can enter.

Want a more competitive match?
Set a higher minimum rating.

Prefer something more relaxed?
Open it to players with lower values.

This ensures balanced and enjoyable games — without last-minute surprises from players far above (or below) the expected level.

3. Boosts: Give your Tieplayer rating a lift

You know those days when you’re confident, playing well, and ready to shine?
Or that match you know will be tough but you want to play freely anyway?
Those are the perfect moments to activate Boosts, through a paid pack that gives you two advantages:

  • If you win, your TARS increases faster

  • If you lose, your TARS doesn’t drop

It’s a strategic power-up that helps you accelerate progression or protect your rating in higher-risk matches.

Tip: Use Boosts when facing strong opponents or when you're in great form.
It’s not cheating — it’s smart evolution management.

4. Match validation: without it, your rating won’t update

This is crucial.
TARS only changes if your match results are validated. After each match booked and played in the app, one player submits the score, the others confirm it, and the system updates each player’s Tieplayer rating automatically.

No validation = match doesn’t count.
And that means you’re missing chances to improve, to appear in level-appropriate games, and to support the ecosystem.
Even if you lose, validate it — rating fairness depends on it.

Why use TARS?

  • It’s automatic — no manual calculations.

  • It’s fair — adjusted to your performance.

  • It’s useful — helps you find partners and challenge yourself.

  • It’s community-driven — connects you to thousands of players.

Ready to take the game seriously?

If you play padel, tennis, pickleball, or squash and want to be part of a vibrant, organized, and fair community — this is where it starts!
